GAS CITY, Ind. (WOWO): A Gas City woman who was sentenced to life without parole for killing her stepdaughter is appealing her conviction.

Amanda Carmack is appealing her conviction for killing her 10-year-old stepdaughter Skylea Carmack in 2019 according to Our Partners in News at ABC 21. Court documents reveal that Carmack is appealing “whether sufficient evidence proved beyond a reasonable doubt that she did not act in ‘sudden heat’ when she killed the victim.”
Carmack was found guilty of strangling Skylea in August of 2021.
A hearing on the appeal is set for Thursday, Sept. 22.

Well, she certainly took the stereotypical term “Wicked Stepmother” to an unnerving level..
I pray her appeal is denied, as she settles into prison for the rest of her life… so that at least WE can live happily ever after, as Skylea was denied.
Even if this WERE a sporadic impulse, there IS NO EXCUSE! Depression & migraines do NOT give her, or anyone else, the right to take another human beings life.
…to strangle a child with a pair of jeans? What kind of animal does this?
This is truly an evil and selfish person.
She knew what she was doing when she chose to take Skylea’s life. Just as she knew what she was doing when hiding the her step-daughter’s body in a trash bag, and lying about her disappearance.
May this disregard for life, and all of her actions, weigh heavily upon Amanda; For the rest of her life here, and beyond. For it will be then, that we find sorrow for her actions here.
Keep her in jail, she should have gotten the death penalty!
