Gary Chief Wants Officer Fired for Arrest in Oklahoma

GARY, Ind. (AP) _ Gary’s police chief wants a police commission to fire an officer arrested in Oklahoma after nearly 50 pounds of marijuana was found in a suitcase she shared with her boyfriend.

Chief Wade Ingram asked the Gary Police Civil Service Commission on Tuesday to fire Gary Patrolman Marla Guye, saying she violated commission rules and standard operating procedures.

Guye was arrested Oct. 23 in Chandler, Okla., with boyfriend Terrance Gee on a day when she was supposed to work but was 800 miles from home.

The Post-Tribune reports Oklahoma State Police stopped the couple for a traffic violation and then found 48 pounds of pot in a suitcase Guye shared with Gee.

Guye’s attorney says Gee has provided a statement exonerating her of involvement in drug trafficking.
