Gambling Supports Fraternal Lodges in Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fraternal clubs and veterans groups in Indiana are taking in more money in gambling proceeds at a time when regular casinos continue to report declining revenue. The Journal Gazette reports that receipts statewide from charity casino gambling in such clubs grew to more than $15 million last year, up from in $1.4 million in 2008. Gaming commission figures show that in Allen County, where Fort Wayne is located, five such organizations brought in more than $5.7 million in 2012, more than a third of the state total. One Fraternal Order of Eagles chapter in Fort Wayne led the way with gross receipts totaling $2.5 million.
