FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Fire Department wants a new fire truck.

So they are asking for an $848 thousand dollar, 105 foot ladder truck. The proposal will be officially introduced to city council Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Eric Lahey says “unprecidented failure” impacted his department's fleet of trucks. If approved, the truck would replace a similar 2001 model.

In a report to council, Lahey says the unit is a demo, if purchased new, it would cost more than $1 million dollars to build.
