FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Community Schools officials are hoping their newest addition will make things even safer for students.

The school district has deployed a new system called “SafeVisitor,” according to the News-Sentinel, which takes a photo of a visitor and creates a special name tag that visitors must wear while in a school building and must return when they leave.

The tags also have a six-hour limit, when a special ink will show up and alert staff to someone whose visit has gone on a little too long. The system also requires visitors to present a government-issued photo ID for scanning, and every visitor is checked against a national sex offender registry as well as a list of approved visitors for each student.

The new school year starts August 15th.

What a great idea! I also wish there was some type of National identifying system in place to insure all people who vote are who they say they are. Wait, that would probably be against their rights….
