FWCS to hold Back to School Celebration for Homeless Assistance Program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) will be holding a special celebration to help families in need get ready for the new school year next week.

The school district’s Homeless Assistance Program will hold a Back to School Celebration on August 6th, offering free book bags, school supplies, haircuts, hygiene products and shoes for students enrolled in the program. Free lunch will also be provided.

The celebration is being sponsored by a number of local groups, including Parkview Hospital, NIPSCO, Sweetwater Sound, Salvation Army, Allen County Christmas Bureau, Northeast Indiana System of Care, King’s Barber Shop, Inez Pierre-Louis, and A Party Apart.

The school year starts Monday, August 15th. For details about the Homeless Assistance Program call Student & Family Support Services at 467-2120.
