FWCS Approves Raises for Teachers and Staff

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): On Monday, the Fort Wayne Community Schools board approved nearly $8 million dollars in raises and stipends for teachers and school staff.

The money comes from a five-year, $40 million Federal Teacher Incentive grant. According to the Journal Gazette, the raises will be applied to the start of this school year and are based on effectiveness and the amount of time the teachers have spent in the district.

The board also moved forward with a $150,000 state grant to help fund the district's gifted and talented program.
