FW Weed/Grass Program Pushed Back

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The area's harsh winter is pushing back the start of Neighborhood Code Enforcement's weed program. The City will start accepting weed complaints May 19th for violations where weeds or grass grow over 9 inches. Cindy Joyner, deputy director for Neighborhood Code Enforcement, says the program ensures properties are well-maintained, which in turn helps protect property values. There are 8 employees who respond to complaints and work to identify violations. If you're in violation, you have 5 days to correct it. If you don't, the City's mowing contractors will inspect the property. If you're still in violation, they will mow your yard, and you'll be charged for it.

You can issue a complaint by calling 311 or 427-8311 or by going to www.cityoffortwayne.org/citizen-service. You must provide the property’s specific street address to register the complaint.
