FW Police Recruits Set to Begin Training

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two dozen recruits will begin training to join Fort Wayne's Finest.

They'll begin a five-month process to become the latest Fort Wayne Police Officers. During the time, they'll undergo training in fire arms, criminal and traffic law, physical fitness, defensive tactics and emergency driving.

A police spokesman says they'll even get practical training using scenarios they'll likely encounter on the job.

They'll also get a healthy dose of instruction in new technologies, like tazers and on-board cameras.

Mayor Tom Henry, Public Safety Director Rusty York and Chief Garry Hamilton will address the would-be officers Monday morning.
