Friday’s Indiana School Board Meeting Could Be a Showdown

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): A showdown could be in the cards Friday in Indianapolis, as State Schools Chief Glenda Ritz could be ousted as board chair at the state's Board of Education.

The Indiana State Teachers Association has warned members that a showdown could be likely on Friday, one that could see Ritz stripped of her authority on the board.

The union's website says rising tensions are expected to come to a head in the meeting, but two members of the board disagree. In fact they claim an item on the agenda should improve the sometimes icy relations between Ritz and the board.

Ritz is a former leader of the ISTA and has openly feuded with members of the board, all of whom were appointed by Republican governors.
