Free Flu Shots in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Indiana health officials are urging you to get a flu shot after 11 Hoosiers have died, from flu-related causes this season.

In the midst of the recent flu outbreak, Physicians Urgent Care in Fort Wayne is offering free flu shots between January 22nd and February 5th for all area residents who have not yet received a flu shot and would like to.

The flu shot is available for anyone 6 months of age or older.

State Health Commissioner William VanNess says this season's flu strains are hitting young and middle-aged adults fairly hard.

She says all of Indiana's 11 flu deaths have targeted people between the ages of 25 and 64.

The state had 27 flu deaths at the same time last year.
