Four Arrested in Drug Raid

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Four people are in custody after authorities raided homes on Lake Avenue and Plaza Drive Tuesday morning around 7:20 a.m.


The raids happened simultaneously on the northeast and southeast sides of the city.

Officers with the Vice and Narcotics unit, along with ATF agents served warrants on the homes after an investigation uncovered armed drug dealing with Heroin, Cocaine and Marijuana.

35-year-old John Bridges of Lake Avenue is charged with numerous counts of dealing as well as firearms charges. He's charged with violating a federal probation. He's facing six total felonies. 28-year-old Yolanda Mcgee is charged with maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of dependent.

During the raid on Plaza Drive 20-year-old Westley Sherrod was charged with maintaining a common nuisance  and neglect of a dependent. 20-year-old Bula Surry also was charged with neglect of a dependent.

While they were searching the home they found four children, ranging in age from 1 to 15. The youngest child was sleeping on couch where a loaded handgun was hidden. 

Drugs and weapons were found at both residences.

The children were placed in protective care and the home was condemned.
