Fort Wayne woman charged with 6 felonies after hit and run crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman is charged with with six felonies after a police say she hit and injured a motorcyclist in a hit and run crash on Sunday.

Stephanie M. Rutledge, 23, was charged with one count of leaving scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle, two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and one count of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon. If convicted of every charge, she could spend up to 35 1/2 years in prison.

Police say Rutledge attempted to turn onto southbound Coliseum Boulevard near Lake Avenue without stopping for oncoming traffic. A motorcyclist collided into her car, was thrown about 40 yards and suffered from a broken femur and multiple abrasions, according to the News-Sentinel.

Rutledge then drove off, according to police. When police caught her, they said she had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.162 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit.
