FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The city of Fort Wayne is on a roll.

The League of American Bicyclists named Fort Wayne as a Bicycle Friendly Community, according to the Fort Wayne Community Development department.

Fort Wayne earned this title for installing 275 bike racks at local businesses and adding 12 miles of bike lanes in the past seven years.

There are 90 miles of trails in the Fort Wayne community and about 70 miles are within the city limits.

The Fort Wayne City Council adopted the Bike Fort Wayne plan in 2010. The plan lays out three strategies: building bike friendly infrastructure, educating the public about biking benefits and encouraging policy change that supports cycling as means of transportation.
