FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s unemployment rate is sitting more than a point below the national average.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that Fort Wayne’s unemployment rate for April was 2.6%, while the statewide average was reported last week at 3.2% and the national average is at 3.7%.
It’s part of a turnaround that Fort Wayne has seen over the past decade; Purdue University Fort Wayne’s Rachel Blakeman tells the News-Sentinel wages are trending up, and growth continues to be strong in both the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.
