FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s population has grown a little more than 4% over the past ten years.
The 2016 census population estimates are out, and Fort Wayne’s population stands at 264,488, a jump of almost 1,700 people since 2015. Fort Wayne’s growth is at the same pace as Indianapolis, while the Journal Gazette reports Huntertown and Warsaw are the fastest-growing cities in the state.
Huntertown in particular had a 10% population jump, sitting at nearly 5,300 residents now. Warsaw’s increase was a little more than 8% to nearly 14,700.
The Indiana Business Research Center calls the Fort Wayne area’s population growth “remarkably steady.”
