Fort Wayne pools will close for the season in August

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Winter is coming.

Local pools closing and kids going back to school is a sure sign that summer is on its way out. Memorial Pool was scheduled to close for the season on Aug. 7, but the pool closed on Aug. 1 because of electrical issues. according to Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation.

Jury Pool in New Haven will close for the season on Aug. 21.

Northside Pool will stay open until 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. On Aug. 14, the Northside Pool is offering a Dippin’ Dogs Swimming Event for every dog with a Pooch Pass to Pawster or Camp Canine dog parks.

Dog owners should pre-register for the event by calling 260-427-6000 or by visiting the Parks and Recreation Department office at 705 East State Boulevard. For more information, go to the Fort Wayne Park’s website.

The city will still have splash pads open until Labor Day. Splash pads are located at the parks below.

  • Robert E. Meyers Park, inside of North Gate of Parkview Field on Jefferson Boulevard
  • Shoaff Park, 6401 St. Joe Road
  • Kreager Park, 7221 North River Road
  • Waynedale Park, 2900 Koons and Elzey
