Fort Wayne police investigate string of armed robberies

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne police officers are investigating several armed robberies that occurred throughout the Summit City over the weekend.

Mang Z. Suan, 19 of Fort Wayne was arrested on one count of armed robbery, a level 3 felony. Reginald L. Bowers, 20, of Fort Wayne was arrested on an unrelated active arrest warrant and one count of armed robbery, a level 3 felony. A juvenile was also arrested on an unrelated active juvenile warrant, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

At about 4:36 a.m. Sunday, Fort Wayne officers received word that five persons of interest were inside an apartment unit at the Three Fountains Apartment complex. Once officers arrived to the complex, located on Hessen Cassel Road, they noticed the suspect’s vehicle parked in front of an apartment and it looked as though the suspects were inside.

Police officers made several attempts to get the suspects to surrender peacefully, but they failed to comply. As of 10:20 a.m., emergency crisis teams were called in.

After verbal orders were issued through loud speakers and a flash bang was detonated, the five suspects surrendered. They were all detained without incident.

Meanwhile the incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

I’m glad you’re reporting this type of crime (robberies). It would also be nice if you could report on the many burglaries that have been taking place in Fort Wayne. We, unfortunately, experienced a recent burglary and were advised by the officer who responded that they are occurring at an almost epidemic pace.
