Fort Wayne Police need help funding missing persons program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Department needs some financial help.

The department is no longer receiving help from the federal government to pay for their missing persons program. The feds were giving the FWPD $1,200 per year for the program, called “A Child is Missing,” which gets info about a missing person and then calls thousands of area people and businesses to try and track them down.

Our partners in news at 21Alive report the program has helped find nearly 1,700 people in the past two decades.

If you’d like to help fund the program, contact Fort Wayne Police.
