Fort Wayne has a new postmaster

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There’s a new postmaster in town.

Kathryn Harris has been with the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years and Friday, she became the 36th postmaster of Fort Wayne. She was formally named postmaster during a ceremony at the Centennial Post Office.

A press release from the U.S. Postal Service says she will manage 400 employees, along with the city’s 150,000 customers.

She started as a letter carrier in Virginia in 1979 before ascending to management in 1984. She most recently was the Rio Grande District Human Resources Manager in San Antonio, Texas.

Harris has a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., along with a master’s degree in business from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
