Fort Wayne Man Faces 10 Year Sentence for Neglecting Son

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man admitted to neglecting his infant son, but battery charges may be dismissed despite the boy's severe injuries.

25-year-old Dan Thompson admitted to neglecting his son around the same time the infant suffered traumatic head and brain injuries last year.

The baby was taken to the doctor in November after he was found with bleeding on the brain and hemorrhages in his eyes. Relatives were then given custody the baby.

According to the Journal Gazette, Thompson originally faced a charge of battery. However, the count will be dismissed if he admits to the neglecting his child in a court of law.

Thompson faces 10 years in prison and if an Allen Superior Judge accepts the plea agreement.
