Fort Wayne man dies a week after moped crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 43-year-old Fort Wayne man died Tuesday almost a week after he was hit while driving a moped.

Orville E. Fitzsimmons died of blunt force trauma due to a motor vehicle crash, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday and his death was ruled an accident.

At about 9:30 p.m. May 11, Fitzsimmons was driving a moped east in the 3300 block of Oxford street when a car traveling west turned in front of the moped, according to the News-Sentinel. The car and moped collided.

Fitzsimmons was hospitalized in critical condiditon.

This is the 13th traffic fatality in Allen County this year. The crash is still under investigation.
