FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man was arrested Wednesday after police say he had a handgun on East Allen Alternative School’s property in October.

Kevin Charles Vandersloot, 20, was arrested on the charge of possession of a firearm on school property, which is a level 6 felony, according to Indiana State Police.

On Oct. 9, Vandersloot arrived in the school’s parking lot on his motorcycle while carrying a backpack. Later that day, a faculty member saw Vandersloot take a handgun from his backpack and place it on his hip before leaving the parking lot on his motorcycle, Indiana State Police say.

Video footage from a security camera in the parking lot confirmed the faculty member’s statement.

Vandersloot was released from Allen County Jail on $2,500 bond.
He faces up to 2 ½ years in prison if he is convicted.
