Fort Wayne man accused of torturing two women

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man was arrested Monday after police say he bound two women in a basement and tortured them.

Morgan K. Govan, 37, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery, one count of criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, one count of possession of a narcotic drug, one count of criminal confinement with bodily injury and one count of intimidation where threat is to commit forcible felony, according to the Journal Gazette.

If he is convicted of all charges, he could be sentenced to more than 84 years in prison.

Police say Govan met a woman at a storage facility and became enraged when he noticed some items were missing from the unit. The woman told him she had lent the key to another woman.

At Govan’s home, the other woman admitted she took some items, but promised to return them. That enraged him even more. That’s when he grabbed the women, threw them into a basement and bound their arms with cable.

While the women were bound, Govan allegedly kicked them in the head, hit them with a claw hammer, whipped them with a cord, dropped a huge rock on their bodies and told them he was going to kill both of them, according to court documents.

One woman was able to escape when Govan went upstairs. She slipped out of the binding and ran to the nearest house. When Govan noticed the woman had escaped, he threw the other woman out of the house.

Both women were hospitalized. Govan is in the Allen County Jail on a $225,000 bond.
