Fort Wayne leaf collection begins October 29

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – It’ll be time to start raking up fallen leaves soon.

Fort Wayne Street Department crews are preparing for leaf collection starting on the morning of Monday, Oct. 29.

Collection will occur two times in each of the city’s 400+ neighborhoods, with the last week of collection starting on December 10.

For curbside leaf pick-up, residents should rake leaves to the curb or park strip in front of their home, but not in the street. Leaves should be in the park strip by 7 a.m. on Monday of the week the leaves are to be collected in your area.

Remember, no other yard waste should be mixed in with the leaves.

Residents can access daily collection updates, their neighborhood schedule and general leaf information at cityoffortwayne.org/leaves. The information will be updated daily beginning Friday, Oct. 26. Residents call also call (260) 427-2603 for more information.

Residents can also schedule personal leaf-pickups using biodegradable bags. The City’s bagged leaf program allows residents to call 311 to schedule a pick-up. The bags should be placed at the curb and will be picked up within two business days after calling 311.

There will be no leaf collection on November 21 for Veteran’s Day, or November 23 and 24 in observance of Thanksgiving.
