Fort Wayne Housing Authority score high in U.S. rankings

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Housing Authority can now call themselves one of the best in the country.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says FWHA’s most recent score of 93 (out of a possible 100) means it’s recognized as a “High Performer.” They say it’s the highest honor for Public Housing Agencies based on performance.

The Housing Authority receiving 24 out of 25 points in the financial assessment, 23 out of 25 points in the management assessment and 36 out of 40 points in the physical assessment. Only those PHAs that score a 90 percent or higher during this analysis receive the special status.

The FWHA serves more than 3,500 low-income families, including over 2,800 families who participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) and another 800 families residing in Public Housing and Tax Credit developments around Fort Wayne.
