Fort Wayne Fire Department Tackles Weekend House Fires

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne fire crews extinguished two house fires over the weekend.

On Saturday, firefighters helped two adults and four pets out of a home on Arlington Avenue. Flames were reported in the basement and once crews arrived, they were able to give oxygen to one of the family's cats. The animal was okay and investigators deemed the fire accidental.

On Sunday, firefighters arrived to a home on Lillie Street to find heavy smoke and flames coming out of the master bedroom. Two adults and two children made it out of the home, but medical officials transported one of the adults to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The two children were also transported to the hospital.

Crews had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes.

The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
