Fort Wayne detective admits guilt in drunk driving crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Detective accused of driving drunk, crashing his car and leaving the scene has pleaded guilty.

Brent Roddy, 36, pleaded guilty Thursday to OWI, endangering a person, reckless driving and leaving the scene, according to our news partners at 21Alive.

Police responded to a crash at Rothman Road and Denise Drive at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 27 and found a damaged vehicle with no driver inside.

Roddy was found about a mile from the scene, where police arrested him. He was hospitalized after the crash.

The crash report says the vehicle went off the road at a curve then hit a sign. Then the vehicle slid into a power pole.

A blood test revealed Roddy had an alcohol level of .21 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 23. He was placed on unpaid leave in early April.
