Fort Wayne curfew met with conformity

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): In this case, no news is good news.

A report by the Journal Gazette says the Fort Wayne Police Department’s decision to enforce Indiana’s curfew law, while meeting some criticism, has generally had no resistance from the public.

Police aren’t sure if they’ve had to pick up any teens caught out after 11pm on weekdays or 1am on weekends. Chief Steve Reed tells the paper a majority of residents are in favor of the move, which police announced in an effort to cut down on violent crime involving minors.

A child caught violating curfew will be transported home by police. Repeated violations could lead to neglect charges against the child’s parents.
