Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo Awarded National Accreditation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo has been awarded Accreditation by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. What does this mean? The zoo was inspected over the summer by representatives from AZA Accreditation Commission and turned in documents to demonstrate that it meets the standards like animal care, keeper training, and safety for visitors. Only 223 zoos are accredited by the AZA in the United States. Accredited zoos have to undergo the process every 5 years. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo was first accredited in 1976.
