FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana woman who was pulled off of a city bus and fatally shot along a busy street had recently filed for a protective order against the man police say killed her.
The Journal Gazette reports court documents show 49-year-old Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy had filed for a protective order Tuesday against Kenneth Knight, but it did not appear that he had been served with a copy.
A Fort Wayne police sniper fatally shot Knight Wednesday afternoon as he held a 3-year-old boy hostage several hours after Hardy’s killing. The child was unharmed in that assault.
The Indiana Department of Correction’s website shows Knight was released from prison about a year ago after serving a 10-year sentence for possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
