Fort Wayne boy dies from gunshot wounds

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 15-year-old boy died after being shot on Fort Wayne’s southeast side on Wednesday.

The death of John Bennett Jr. of Fort Wayne was ruled a homicide, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Fort Wayne Police responded to the area of Avondale and Baxter Avenues at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found Bennett in an alley suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was hospitalized in critical condition and died Thursday.

This is the 14th homicide in Allen County this year. The shooting is still under investigation.
