Fort Wayne Airport Considers Adding Solar Farm

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): Fort Wayne International Airport officials are looking into adding a solar farm that would cover up to 75 acres.

Airport Executive Director Scott Hinderman tells The News-Sentinel that Carmel-based Telamon Corp. will determine whether Allen County receives enough sunlight to make the project feasible.

The project would require Federal Aviation Administration approval. A 75-acre solar energy farm that was a joint venture between Telamon and Johnson-Melloh Solutions was completed at Indianapolis International Airport in October.

Company spokeswoman Alexa Amatulli says the Fort Wayne facility would feed electricity into the existing power grid. In Indianapolis, the power is fed to Indianapolis Power and Light Co.
