Former Teacher and Coach Pleads Guilty to Sexual Battery Charges

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (AP) – A former high school teacher and track and cross country coach from northeastern Indiana has pleaded guilty to a felony count of sexual battery and two misdemeanor counts of battery.

The Journal Gazette reports Donald Cotton pleaded guilty Monday in Huntington Circuit Court. He was accused in August of inappropriately touching a woman inside his car in the parking lot of Huntington North High School, about 25 miles southwest of Fort Wayne.

After she came forward, another woman told police Cotton inappropriately touched her in 2005 when he was her teacher and coach.

He resigned in September from the staff at the school and was charged last month.
