FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A former Wayne High School teaching assistant will spend a year in prison.

Last month, Braxton Smith accepted a plea deal last month, admitting to one count of count of child seduction, with a second charge dropped.

According to court records, he admitted to having intercourse with the underage student twice in the fall of 2014. The girl was 16 or 17 years old at the time. Smith was a special education worker.

Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull suspended two years of the sentence. He's also been ordered to serve two years probation and undergo counseling.
