Former IMPD officer David Bisard Strikse a Plea Deal

MARION COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  Former IMPD officer David Bisard has copped a plea deal on his second drunk driving charge.

Attorneys on both sides confirm Bisard has pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated. This dates back to last April when Bisard crashed his pickup truck in Lawrence.

Bisard‘s attorney John Kautzmann says Bisard has accepted responsibility, but he and Marion County Prosecutors disagree on the appropriate sentence for Bisard who is serving his sentence for the first drunk driving charge in Newcastle.

Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson says they‘re seeking the maximum sentence of one-year in prison for Bisard on the second charge. Robinson says it‘s time Bisard “be held accountable … for two separate crimes that occurred here in Marion County.”

Bisard is serving 13 years in New Castle. Robinson says any new sentence would be consecutive by law to Bisard‘s current sentence. Bisard is due in court on February 5th for the sentencing hearing.
