FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Not everyone is happy about a man who has taken up a position outside of North Side High School, armed, in an effort to keep students there safe.
Mark Cowan, with the group called the “Oathkeepers,” was back at his post Monday, just off school property, with an AR-15 and a handgun in his truck. He says he and his group want to keep schools safe from shootings, but former Fort Wayne Community Schools Board President Mark GiaQuinta tells our Partners in News at ABC 21 he feels differently.
“We wish he would go away,” GiaQuinta says, making sure to note that’s his personal opinion and he’s not speaking for the district. “We don’t know who he is, we don’t know if he’s more a threat than a help. We have a very strong vetting process at Fort Wayne Community Schools, which he has not participated in.”
GiaQuinta says Cowan should leave the job of protecting students to the district’s school resource officers.

Ignore Mr GiQuinta’s comments as a former school board member. They carry no weight. I was a former board president for EACS. The media isn’t chasing me down with a microphone to hear my opinion.

The fact that Mark GiaQuinta uses the third person “we” to make it sound like everyone wants the Oath Keeper to go away is also pathetic. It’s as if he’s trying to make himself sound official, which he isn’t.
Somehow I am not surprised that a Democrat would not want an armed veteran protecting our kids.
