FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A familiar face to Fort Wayne politics may be making a comeback.

Former Republican City Councilman Tom Smith lost his seat last year in the May primary and has been out of politics since.

Smith is now pursuing a seat on the Fort Wayne Community Schools board of trustees, according to the Journal-Gazette. He’s filing for the first-district seat being vacated by Becky Hill and is the second person to file for the seat after she announced she would not run for re-election. Robert Hinga is the other person that has filed so far.

Candidates have until August 26th to file for the seat.
