Former Care Worker Accused of Stealing Pain Medication

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A former care worker at a local nursing and rehab center is accused of stealing pain medication from at least five patients.

According to the Journal Gazette, 28-year-old Michelle Hall of Woodburn was arrested on Monday on accusations that she was stealing patients' pain medication instead of administering it as prescribed.

A probably cause affidavit filed the case and it's believed that she was stealing the medication throughout her tenure of employment at the facility.

The Journal Gazette reports Hall was taken into custody on counts of theft, interference with medical services, and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

Hall was a former care worker at the Kingston Care Center, located on W. Washington Center Road in Fort Wayne. Police conducted an investigation between February and March of 2014 and discovered five patients had not received their medication, or their dosage was not given in the full amount.

There were multiple ways Hall may have been able to acquire the medications that were withdrawn from an automated dispensing unit.

Hall was released from jail on $10,000 bond.
