Flood Warnings/Watches Issued for Region

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A flood warning as been issued for rivers around the area. The rivers include the St. Marys River in Allen and Adams counties in Indiana and Van Wert County in Ohio. Moderate flooding is expected near Decatur Friday with water cresting Sunday Morning.

The warning includes the Salamonie River in Huntington, Jay, Wells, Wabash and Blackford Counties. Also in the warning, is the Tiffin River in Ohio for Defiance, Fulton and Williams Counties.

Forecasters say heavy rains are straining rivers. You are advised to never drive through flood waters. 


Meanwhile an urban and small stream warning and/or  a flood watch and is in place for Allen, Adams, Blackford, DeKalb, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley county are at risk in Indiana. Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Williams are impacted in Northwest Ohio. 

With more than two inches of rain hitting falling on the area so far today, excessive runoff is expected to flood small creeks and streams pushing over to roads and highways.
