Five People Evacuate Swinney Avenue Fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An apartment fire on Swinney Avenue had firefighters busy early Saturday morning.

Five people were able to make it out safely at the apartment building on Swinney Avenue near Nelson Street after the fire broke out shortly after midnight.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was able to put the fire out in about a half hour. They report that two of the four apartments had heavy fire and water damage while the other two apartments had heavy smoke damage.

No one was injured, but two cats died during the fire.
