Five Animals Die in Fire on Cherry Street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Five animals have died after a house fire on Cherry Street.

Fort Wayne fire crews responded to the blaze just after 2:00 p.m., Monday afternoon at 624 Cherry Street.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and found flames coming from the first floor of the two story home. Once crews made entry into the home, they found that one dog, two cats and two rabbits had died. One dog was rescued.

Fire investigators determined that the fire was started by an overturned keroscene heater. Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
