FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Mayor Tom Henry and Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll led the grand opening for Franklin School Park.

The first phrase of Franklin Park on St. Mary’s Avenue features maintained and restored arches from Franklin School. It also includes new bench seating, sidewalks, a new splash pad and restrooms, according to Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation.

“We continue to see positive momentum and investment in the City of Fort Wayne,” said Henry. “I’m encouraged by the enhancements being made in our parks and neighborhoods.”

Fundraising is underway for the second phrase of the development. When the vision is complete, the former school garage will be converted into a rent-able pavilion.
