FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As of Wednesday afternoon, the first Blue Star Banner is up for display. It was installed as part of the new Blue Star Banner program, which recognizes City of Fort Wayne residents and City government employees who are actively deployed.

This first banner is in honor of Command Sergeant Major Brian Kiess, who is an actively deployed member of the Army Reserve and works in the City’s Division of Public Works. The banner is located on West Jefferson Boulevard across from Swinney Park.

Family and friends of deployed personnel are encouraged to complete an application at http://www.cityoffortwayne.org/.  Banners will displayed each April – November and will be taken down during the winter months.
