CROMWELL, Ind. (AP): A fire has destroyed a northeastern Indiana strip mall but firefighters were able to keep flames away from gasoline pumps at the site.

The blaze produced thick black smoke that could be seen for miles before firefighters from six departments extinguished the flames.
The State Fire Marshal's office estimated damages at $800,000.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
