A Fire at a house on the city’s east side sends one to the hospital. The Fort Wayne Fire Department received a call for help at about a quarter past 10 last night, when they got to the house on Congress near Wayne Trace they found heavy smoke pouring from the 2nd floor. The Axmen found the person who was inside the house at the time the fire started already outside and they were suffering from burns….they were rushed to the hospital, no word on their condition at this time. As to the fire we’re told, it started in the basement, they were able to contain it there however the 2nd floor of the house did receive extensive smoke and water damage. As to the cause of the fire? Investigators are still trying to figure that out.
