Fire Hits Luxury Apartments Being Built near Indianapolis

FISHERS, Ind. (AP) – Central Indiana firefighters are battling a blaze at a luxury apartment complex that's under construction just north of Indianapolis.

Fourteen fire department units were called to the fire that was reported just before 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Flats at Fishers apartments.

Fire officials say no one lived in the cluster of three buildings that were being built in the southern Hamilton County city of Fishers just north of Indianapolis.

Fishers Fire Department Capt. John Mehling tells WTHR-TV (http://bit.ly/1xWTM63 ) that firefighters had some trouble accessing the fire because the structures are still under construction.

He says winds also were stoking the fire, which continued to smolder with a few flare-ups of flames just after 8 a.m.
