FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two people escaped an early-morning house fire on Fort Wayne’s south side today.

Fort Wayne firefighters were called to a home on Edgeknoll Lane, near the McMillen Center for Health Education, at about 3:16 a.m. about a fire on the back of the home.

By the time crews arrived five minutes later, the whole back of the house was on fire, but the two occupants and their pets had already escaped.

The fire was extinguished about a half hour later, and is currently under investigation.
