Fire Crews Rescue Three From Apartment Fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An apartment fire has caused moderate damage to five units just north of downtown Fort Wayne.

Three people had to be rescued by Fort Wayne Fire Crews and were transported to a local hospital. One other person was able to escape without injury. The fire started around 1:57 a.m. Friday morning to reports of heavy smoke at 1664 Wells Street. The house was comprised of five apartment units, and emergency crews located heavy smoke coming from the second story window on the porch roof.

One of the people that were rescued was found unconscious inside a first floor apartment and had to be evacuated by firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
