Final push for Flint water donations in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A lofty goal set by a Fort Wayne pastor to get 50,000 bottles of water to Flint has been blown away. Now the push for 100,000 bottles by Monday is on.

New Beginnings Church Reverend Carlton Lynch made a plea last week to get 50,000 bottles of water either purchased or dropped-off at the Southgate Kroger. He plans to deliver them to Flint residents, who are going through a major water crisis. He will deliver the water, with the help of volunteers, to Flint residents on Monday, February 1st.

“Everybody’s coming because water is a basic need,” Lynch told WOWO News Tuesday afternoon. “It has been overwhelming seeing the community I live in and serve in respond in such a great way.”

In addition to more water, Lynch is also looking for more helping hands to load the water. He’s inviting anyone to come out to New Beginnings Church on Sunday at 6 p.m. to help load the semis with the purchased and donated water.
